A video of an anti-Indian blogger circulated via social media with the false claim that it was the founder and chairman of Himalaya Drug Company

On the messaging app WhatsApp, a message was circulated that stated that Muhammad Manal, the owner of Himalaya Drug Company, posted an anti-Indian statement on his Facebook profile. The video depicts a man encouraging Muslim youth to see India as positive place.False info that the video comes from the founder Hemalaya Drug Co. Himalaya Drug Company

The Himalayan Drug Company

In 1930, Muhammed Manal started his company, the Himalayan Drug Company. Headquarters of the company is located in Bengaluru (Karnataka). It manufactures primarily health-related products and has a variety of products which are based on Ayurvedic herbs. Their productsare well-received not only in India, but also in countries like the United States, Middle East and all over the world. The company is currently selling it's products in more than 106 countries. Liv 52 is the most famous Himalayan product. It improved liver health and was first introduced in the year 1955.

Social media messages

If the information is accurate, Muhammad Manal is the founderand the CEO of the Himalayan Drug Company. Because the company was founded in 1930 and was founded in 1930, it makes sense for the younger person in the video to have at least 100 years old. However, the fact is that Mr. Manal passed away in 1986, so the person on the screen cannot be him.

Reply to Himalaya Drug Company

Himalaya posted a message to its social media accounts on 14 October stating that fake posts as well as WhatsAppforwards were being posted about Himalaya. It stated it was a companyis professionally managed and has integrity. The company warned that anyone who posted or forward the fake post must remove it immediately or they will be pursuing legal action.

It's not the first time that Himalaya Drug Co is dealing with such a problem. Similar messages were circulated on WhatsApp and other social media platforms in March 2020. Many posts that claimed the fact that Himalaya Drug Company funds terrorists were over the social media platforms with the photo of Philipe Haydon (President and CEO of Himalaya Drug Company). The post stated it was M. Manal, the founder of Himalaya Drug Company was shown in the picture.

The company also issued a clarification message at that moment, which stated that all posts about Himalaya on social media are fake. The company added they believed that Himalaya Drug Company was a pre-independence brand of wellness "Made In India", that adheres to the belief of "healing".

In search of that personin video

A little research on the website of the company showed an error on the site. M. Manal is not the person who is in the clip. Actually, the founder died in the year 1986, which was about 35 years ago. We decided to find out who was the person is in the video. We could find numerous social media accounts which were managed by Naqi Ahmed Nadwi who is the Saudi Arabian citizen, after doing a bit of research using Google's reverse image search. Although there was a hyperlink to his Facebook profile, there was no information on Naqi Ahmed Nadwi. The default parking page was all that it was. The registration was made in May of this year.
